Descriere filiala:

The library is dedicated to all those interested in the German culture, language and civilization and it offers a collection of publications in German that is constantly updated, in order to offer a wider image on today’s Germany.

At the beginning of the 90s, the Goethe Institute initiated a project that supported the establishment of certain libraries of German books in Central and South-eastern Europe.

This project also includes the German Library of the German Cultural Center, inaugurated in 1994; it was the result of the collaboration between the Lucian Blaga Central University Library, The Babeş-Bolyai University and the Goethe Institute in Bucharest.

Since 2005, the library had been chosen to participate in the international programme “People and books”, financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the German Federal Republic, the Goethe Institute, Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, as well as the foundations Fritz Thyssen, Hertie, Gerda Henkel, Marga and Kurt Möllgaard, Zeit, Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius.
